Table Talk
Our Diseased Health Care System
Monday, January 24
with Donald L. Barlett and James B. Steele,
Pulitzer Prize-winning authors and acclaimed investigative journalists who write about the complex issues and institutions that profoundly affect American life.
Critical Condition: How Health Care in America Became Big Business and Bad Medicine, reveals the horrific state of health care in America and contends that the system is so diseased that we are all on the verge of being infected. The authors expose a managed-care system corrupted by greed and profits, always at the expense of patients. Currently editors-at-large for Time, Inc., Barlett & Steele were former reporters at The Phila. Inquirer, where they first published the series that became, America: What Went Wrong, chronicling the deliberate dismantling of the American working-class during the 80s, now in its 18th printing.
