Global Women’s Strike 2001

Monday, February 5, 7:30pm

Last year, women and girls from 64 countries joined the first global women's strike on March 8, International Women's Day. Phoebe Schellenberg and Pat Albright of the Crossroads Women's Center in Germantown will show a video compilation of the strike, which was called and coordinated by the International Wages for Housework Campaign. The strike demanded economic and social justice for women in villages and cities worldwide who do 2/3 of the world's work for 5% of the world's income. Schellenberg and Albright will discuss the Center's local Wages for Housework Campaign and activities for the 2nd Global Women's Strike on Mar 8 which include a lunch-break rally on pay equity at City Hall.
