Facts and Perceptions from Israel and the Palestinian Occupied Territories
Monday, February 9, 6pm
with Lawrence Davidson and Janet Kestenberg Amighi
Middle East historian Lawrence Davidson, and his wife, anthropologist Janet Kestenberg Amighi, will present a slide show and discussion, including possible solutions like the Geneva Accords, based on three trips taken to Israel and the occupied territories in the past year most recently in January 2004. Travelling with Faculty for Israeli-Palestinian Peace, their group had unique access to a wide array of players in the conflict, including Jewish settlers and Palestinian villagers, a retired Israeli general and Yasser Arafat, university students, Arab Israelis and Jewish Israeli peace workers. Their conclusions are based on their own observations of facts on the ground.
