Code Pink: Women for Peace

Monday, February 10, 6pm

with Medea Benjamin

Medea Benjamin, founding director of Global Exchange, a San Francisco-based human rights organization which seeks to increase global awareness among the US public while building international partnerships around the world. While the Bush administration talks of Code Red, preparing us for war, Benjamin organized Code Pink, a four-month vigil for peace of women across the nation as a call to protest military action against Iraq and to reorient our nation toward nurturing, compassion and nonviolent resolution of conflicts. The action will culminate on March 8th, International Women’s Day. Benjamin will also talk of her recent trip to Afghanistan, when she brought Americans who had lost family members in 9/11 to meet Afghani families who lost loved ones in the US bombing.
