Storytelling

Nine White Women in the Freedom Movement

Monday, February 19, 7:30pm

Constance Curry is one of nine authors of Deep in Our Hearts, a powerful collection of essays by white women who came of age during the civil rights movement and committed themselves to the struggle for racial equality and justice. The book explores why these women crossed the color line in the days of segregation to join the Southern Freedom Movement and how this experience shaped their lives. Curry, author of Silver Rights and co-author of The Fire Ever Burning, was the first white woman appointed to the executive committee of SNCC & served as southern field representative for the Mississippi AFSC.
