New Realities of Immigration Post 9/11

Attorney and social worker Judy Bernstein Baker is executive director of Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society (HIAS) & Council Migration Services in Phila.

She will provide a context for stories of lives impacted by policy changes since 9/11. Judy will be joined by Ora Richards, a refugee from Liberia. The premier fashion designer in Monrovia, Ora fled during the civil war. Her husband remains in Liberia despite death threats. Ora requests that attendees bring school supplies for children in Liberia.

Storytellings

Storytelling night provides the opportunity to hear the life stories of a variety of peoples and gives voice to underrepresented groups such as ex-offenders, senior citizens, gays, youth, immigrants and homeless people. They also provide a forum to exchange perspectives at a personal level on experiences such as war, civil rights marches, parenting issues, and illness.

For reservations for à la carte dinner 6pm, and/or Storytelling at 7:30, call 215-386-9224. (Preferential seating given to those dining; remaining seats available to those with reservation for storytelling only.) Singles welcome at group tables.
