7th Annual African-American Heritage Tour

Underground Railroad - A Living History

Saturday, February 28, 10:30am

Still bearing damage from musket and cannon balls fired during the 1777 Battle of Germantown, the Johnson House provided shelter for many slaves escaping to freedom. Writer and director Ty Collins has brought together professional actors that will bring to life the history of the runaway slaves housed by the Johnsons, and abolitionists who would meet in the house to debate slavery’s end, as well as others, like Harriet Tubman, that have passed through the Johnson House.

After the tour and performances, we will have a White Dog lunch and view the Johnson House collection of slave artifacts.
