Meet at the Paul Robeson House Museum for a tour with Maurice Henderson, Education Director. The Paul Robeson House Museum, located at 4921 Walnut, was the last home of Paul Leroy Robeson, one of America's foremost African American citizens. Managed by the West Phila Cultural Alliance, the museum is dedicated to heightening public awareness of the life and legacy of Paul Robeson, and to preserving a record of his struggles to advance racial harmony, resolve conflict around the world, and fight for justice.
The exhibit we will see, entitled From These Roots, presents 10 themes that overview his life and include his early years, his days as a scholar, an athlete, a renaissance man, an actor, a singer, an activist, and a humanitarian.
Lunch at the White Dog Cafe. Joining us for lunch will be Bobbi and Friends, a jazz/spoken word ensemble. This wonderful group includes Bobbi, an 82 year old woman, who performs text while the sounds of Cora on piano, Hazell on vocals, and Tony on saxophone, play alongside.
