Just released, this documentary on US policy in Latin America focuses on the School of the Americas (SOA), a controversial US military school that trains Latin soldiers. SOA graduates are responsible for some of the worst human rights abuses in Latin America. Narrated by Martin Sheen, Hidden in Plain Sight features interviews with political thinkers (Noam Chomsky, Christopher Hitchens, Eduardo Galeano), Congresspersons, Army officers & social activists who tackle the issues of U.S. economic and military policies in Latin America, the war on drugs, globalization & Plan Colombia. Following the film, Linda Panetta will lead a discussion. Panetta has been an activist on Latin America issues for 17 years, and is currently a film-maker, and Director of the SOA Watch - North Eastern US. SOA Watch is an independent organization that seeks to close the US Armys SOA, under whatever name it is called, through vigils, fasts, demonstrations, nonviolent protest, as well as media and legislative work.
All films begin at 6:30pm, followed by discussion and are free. Films are projected on to a large screen with sound system. Dinner, Bar and Grill and Dessert menus, as well as beverage service will be available before, during, and after the films.
