Born to Buy:
The Commercialized Child

Monday, March 28, 6pm

with Juliet Schor
author and cofounder of the Center for a New American Dream.

In her latest eye-opening book, Born to Buy: The Commercialized Child and the New Consumer Culture, Schor illuminates marketers’ unrelenting exploitation of our youth and the negative consequences of maximizing corporate profits at the expense of our children’s well-being. A sharp observer and critic of American commercialism, Schor has written extensively on Americans’ lifestyles. Her books include The Overworked American: The Unexpected Decline of Leisure and The Overspent American: Upscaling, Downshifting and the New Consumer.
