9th Annual Freedom Seder

Monday, March 29, 6pm

with Rabbi Yael Levy and Cantor George Mordecai

We will use the traditional songs and symbols of the Seder to explore the universal themes of freedom and renewal as they apply to our inner selves as well as to the larger social and political events.

Yael Levy is spiritual director at Reconstructionist Rabbinical College and is associate rabbi at Mishkan Shalom, a progressive synagogue in Roxborough dedicated to the integration of spiritual life and social activism.

Born in Sydney, Australia to a family of Iraqi Jewish ancestry, George Mordecai became immersed in the musical and liturgical traditions of his family. He currently serves as cantor at Temple Beth Zion Beth Israel in Philadelphia, and works on performance projects with Arab, Jewish, and Flamenco musicians.
