The Book and the Cook
Lunch and Discussion
with Chef Ann Cooper
Saturday, March 31, 12pm
Big business and politics join us at the table every time we sit down to eat. Ann Cooper, in her most recent book, Bitter Harvest: A Chef's Perspective on Hidden Dangers in the Foods We Eat and What You Can Do About It, details the connections between food, history, politics, and health, and traces the path from America's widely agrarian past to our present era of bioengineered "Frankenfood."
As a former Vermont American Culinary Federation Chef of the Year, a medal-winning Executive Chef of the Telluride Film Festival and other restaurants in New York and Vermont, Cooper is passionate about what we eat and works to improve health, nutrition and the future of our food. She understands that food choices can be overwhelming, but hopes to provide us with the knowledge to make informed choices about the food we eat.
The White Dog plans menus to highlight what is available locally at the time of the meal. A complete menu for this event will be available as we get closer to March 31.
