Storytelling
Visiting The Forgotten

We will hear from several people associated with Prisoner Visitation and Support (PVS), a Philadelphia-based, nationwide, interfaith visitation program with access to all federal and military prisons and prisoners in the U.S. Jim Marren, who served 19 years in federal prison, will share what it meant to be visited by PVS volunteers during his incarceration. Eileen Gilkenson, who has been visiting prisoners for 10 years at the Philadelphia Naval Brig and the Federal Detention Center in Philadelphia, will describe what it’s like to visit in prison. A short video, filmed in six federal and military prisons, will precede the discussion.

They also provide a forum to exchange perspectives at a personal level on experiences such as war, civil rights marches, parenting issues, and illness.

Optional à la carte dinner at 6pm is followed by storytelling at 7:30pm. Reservations recommended (215) 386-9224. Open seating at bar for drinks, snacks or desserts. Singles welcome at group tables.
