Life in a Chinese Labor Camp

Monday, June 4, 7:30pm

In 1981 artist Muchen Lin helped established The Shanghai Human Rights Association. Subsequently, he was arrested and served 4 years of 'reform through labor' in a Chinese labor camp. After being held incommunicado by the Chinese government for his role in the Chinese Democracy Movement, Lin was deported to America in 1994. He now lives in California and serves as secretary general of 'The Alliance for a Democratic China.' Lin's appearance is sponsored by Global Importune, a human rights organization that seeks to raise public awareness by providing public forums for the victims of human rights abuses.
