Table Talk The Faith-Based Initiative: Perspectives on Church and State Monday, June 11, 6pm with Larry Frankel, Murry Friedman, and Reverend Donna Jones. The decision to create a partnership between religious groups and government for social-welfare purposes has provoked considerable controversy. Murray Friedman, director of the Feinstein Center for American Jewish History at Temple U, directs a project of the Pew Charitable Trusts whose recent report, In Good Faith: A Dialogue on Funding Faith-Based Social Services, supports the initiative. Larry Frankel, executive director of the American Civil Liberties Union of PA, will address first amendment issues and civil rights implications. Rev. Jones is minister of the Cookman Methodist Church in North Philadelphia which currently operates under charitable choice legislation. * * * * * * * Table Talk Reservations Table Talks at 6pm include a three course dinner, followed by speaker and discussion from 7:30-9pm. $30 per person, includes tax and gratuity.
