On July 17th the Philly Youth Slam Team traveled to San Jose, California, to compete in the 10th Annual Brave New Voices International Youth Poetry Slam Festival. The event featured over 35 teams from across the country and more than 400 youth poets. With the love and support of family, friends, and team facilitator, the Philly Youth Slam Team succeeded in winning 1st Place!
Over the past two years, Philadelphia Youth Poetry has used literary and theatre arts, along with academic assistance, tutoring, anti -gang/violence initiatives and mentorship as a push towards changing the lives of inner city youth.
