Plant a Butterfly Garden
Horticultural Center in Fairmont Park
Saturday, June 15, 9am - 1pm
This hands-on project will teach you how to create a butterfly habitat using native species. We will be planting, mulching and creating educational signage for park visitors.
Doris Stahl, Director of the Penn State Cooperative Extension Urban Gardening Program and volunteer with the Fairmont Park Commission, will share her wildlife gardening experience with us while overseeing the project.
Volunteers are asked to bring a waterbottle and clothes to get dirty in - including a hat with a visor and gardening gloves. Children welcome with adult supervision.
A complimentary White Dog lunch will be provided for volunteers. Space is limited. Please call (215) 386-9224 to reserve your place.
Directions to the Horticulture Center
From Center City: (30th and Market)
76 West to Montgomery Drive (Exit 35.)
Turn left at light onto Montgomery Drive.
Continue on Montgomery Drive approximately 1 block to Horticultural Drive (1st street on the left before Belmont Avenue).
Make left onto Horticultural Drive.
Drive through front gates on left, building is on the right.
From King of Prussia and Valley Forge:
76 East to Montgomery Drive (Exit 35).
Make right off ramp onto Montgomery Drive.
Continue on Montgomery Drive to Horticultural Drive (1st street on the left before Belmont Avenue).
Make left onto Horticultural Drive.
Drive through front gates on left, building is on the right.
From City Ave (Via Expressway, Lincoln Drive, etc.):
Take City Avenue to Belmont Avenue.
Make left onto Belmont Avenue.
Follow Belmont Avenue to Montgomery Drive.
Make left onto Montgomery Drive then make 1st right onto Horticultural Drive.
Drive through front gates on left, building is on the right.
From New Jersey:
Take the Ben Franklin or Walt Whitman bridge onto 76W.
Follow Center City Directions from above.
