Meet at 8am at 30th Street Station to catch an 8:15 train to Doylestown (or 8:35 from Jenkintown) on the R-5 line to explore the very scenic Delaware and Lehigh National Heritage Corridor. We will ride on country roads, towpaths and rail trails through beautiful stream valleys along the Delaware River. Our destinations include the charming canal villages of Lumberville and Frenchtown, and historic Washington Crossing State Park. Our ride will end in Yardley, where we will catch a 5:01 train back to Philadelphia, arriving around 6pm.
The group will be led by Bob Thomas, long-time bike advocate, historian and bicycle commuter. His architectural firm of Campbell, Thomas & Co. designed the Philadelphia to Valley Forge Bikeway.
The 50-mile, all-day ride will be on flat roads - mostly fine gravel towpaths and rail trails with some road riding. A boxed White Dog lunch will be provided for you to carry on your bike. Please bring a water bottle, spare tube and repair kit, helmet and bike in excellent operating condition.
