Urban Agriculture Tour
Saturday, June 17, 8:30 - 3:00pm
Meet at the White Dog for coffee and muffins, then hop on a motorized trolley to explore three of Philly’s unique and inventive urban farms. Our tour will include three stops, a picnic lunch, and informative presentations from several urban agriculture pioneers. Built on a former industrial site in Kensington, Greensgrow Farm, our first stop, is an impressive example of how to reuse an abandoned factory site. Our next stop, Somerton Tanks Farm, in Northeast Philadelphia, is not just a working urban farm, but a prototype for the creation of other neighborhood-based farms throughout the city. Our last stop, Mill Creek Farm, in West Philadelphia is an educational farm dedicated to increasing access to affordable, healthy food.
$45 includes muffins and coffee, transportation, discussion, picnic lunch, tax and gratuity. Advance payment required. Cancellations can be made up to 24 hours before event. Rain or Shine. Reservations required, call 215 386-9224
