Meet at the White Dog at 9am for coffee & scones before boarding a bus at 9:30 for Lancaster County, where we will tour three working farms that supply the Cafe with all-natural, humanely raised meat, dairy and produce.
We will begin at Alvin Stoltzfus’ Spring Water Farm where he raises free-range hogs, turkeys and chickens, and pastured cows. We will then tour the Glick family's Maplethorpe Dairy before stopping for a box lunch picnic. After lunch, we will visit Henry Stoltzus’ farm, Farmdale Organics, where he grows a wide variety of organic produce for restaurants and CSAs.
This tour was organized in conjunction with, and profits will benefit, the Philadelphia Fair Food Project. Fair Food, a program of the White Dog Cafe Foundation, is dedicated to bringing natural and humanely-raised meats to the Philadelphia marketplace and supporting regional, small-scale farmers.
