Table Talk

American Adventurism Abroad

Monday, June 27, 6pm

with Michael Sullivan,
professor of political science at Drexel University, where he has taught for the past 30 years.

In his latest book, American Adventurism Abroad: 30 Invasions, Interventions, and Regime Changes Since World War II, Sullivan traces American foreign policy from the late 1940s to the late 1990s to explain how the US became the world’s only superpower and hegemon of the global capitalist system. His analysis of 30 forceful interventions into developing countries foreshadows likely forms of US involvement in the future, especially in an era of greater globalization and the ‘war against terrorism.’ In addition to books on human rights and comparative politics, Sullivan has published several articles on nuclear arms controls.
