Meet at the White Dog Cafe at 9:30 am for coffee & scones. We will leave the cafe at 10:00 am for a tour by trolley of outstanding gardens & public landscapes, led by Ms. Narducci & resident gardeners. We will return to the White Dog Cafe at 12:00 pm for lunch.
Community gardens and public landscape sites are some of the projects of Philadelphia Green, the urban greening program of the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society, which assists neighborhoods in utilizing vacant lots and beautifying the urban landscape. Philadelphia Green is the largest urban greening program in the country serving as a model for cities nation wide.
We will visit a number of gardens and public landscapes in various Philadelphia neighborhoods. During lunch at the White Dog, Flossie will discuss the work of Philadelphia Green with community gardeners and parks groups, and current and proposed public landscape projects.
