A growing number of scientists and policy makers allege that across a range of issuesfrom climate change to reproductive health and nuclear weaponsthe Bush administration has suppressed or distorted the scientific analysis of federal agencies to bring their results in line with administration policy. As a result, policy decisions are being made that have serious consequences for our health, safety, and environment.
In February 2004, the Union of Concerned Scientists released a report on its assessment of the allegations based on interviews, government documents and the public record. Dr. Lawrence Krauss, recipient of the American Association for the Advancement of Science’s 1999-2000 Award for the Public Understanding of Science and Technology, will discuss the UCS report.
