Meet at the White Dog Cafe for coffee and scones before boarding the bus at 9:30 for Lancaster County, PA. There we will join farmer Glenn Brendle on a tour of two working farms that supply the Cafe with all-natural, humanely raised meat.
We will begin at Alvin Stoltzfus organic farm where he raises free-range hogs, followed by a box lunch at the Rohrers Mill, a fully-operational water powered grist mill dating from 1815.
After lunch, we will visit Alvin Newswangers farm and his herd of pastured Angus steer.
This tour was organized in conjunction with, and proceeds will benefit, the Philadelphia Fair Food Project. The Fair Food Project, founded by the White Dog Cafe, is dedicated to bringing natural and humanely-raised meats to the Philadelphia marketplace and supporting regional, small-scale farmers.
