Footprints on the Land:
American Stories About Race

Monday, October 20, 7:30pm

From active membership in Philadelphia’s People for Human Rights in the 1960s and co-founder of The People’s Fund (now Bread and Roses Community Fund), to heading a multi-service neighborhood center in San Francisco, Helen Helfer’s 40-year career has always included anti-racist and community-based organizing work. In Footprints on the Land, 52 contemporary Americans speak about their experiences with race and racism in the US, each story leaving an indelible footprint on the issue. Helen will be joined by several local people whose stories are included in the book; she will read a segment from David Gracie’s story.

This event is co-sponsored with
Bread and Roses Community Fund.
