Storytelling

Tales from Palestine & Israel

Monday, October 27,
6pm optional dinner, 7:30pm program

Customers and staff of the White Dog visited Palestine and Israel this fall as part of the White Dog Cafe’s International Sister Restaurant Project (on this trip sister relationships were established with Israeli and Palestinian restaurants). Organized by CODEPINK: Women for Peace and led by co-founder Medea Benjamin (also Global Exchange co-founder), the trip was in honor of slain US peace activist Rachel Corrie, who was killed by an Israeli military bulldozer as she protested a Palestinian house demolition in the occupied Gaza Strip.

Seeking to explore the roots of the Middle East conflict, the delegation met with a number of Israeli and Palestinian human rights and peace organizations, such as Rabbis for Human Rights, visited Israelis who lost family members to suicide bombers & traveled to areas of Israel, the West Bank & Gaza.

White Dog proprietress Judy Wicks will show her slides from the trip, and members of the delegation will share their stories and insights. Others who have traveled to the area are encouraged to share thoughts and experiences.
