Watching the Media as the Media Watch the World

Monday, November 5, 6pm

with Danny Schechter.

"I joined the media to expose the problems of the world. Now I see the media as one of those problems," says Schechter, founder and executive editor of MediaChannel, a nonprofit, public interest website dedicated to global media issues (MediaChannel.org).

An internationally recognized speaker and writer on media issues who has been called a ‘journalist without borders,’ Schechter views the relationship between powerful media industries and politics as the hidden disease of American democracy. He is the author of The More You Watch, The Less you Know, and his new book, News Dissector - Passions, Pieces, and Polemics, 1960-2000, which brings together his writings on human rights, politics and the media over four decades of activism and reporting.
