A dinner celebrating the many important and delicious foods in our diet that were originally cultivated by the Native Americans, followed by a talk on contemporary Native issues with
José Barreiro, a member of the Taino Nation of the Antilles. Barreiro is editor of the newly published America is Indian Country, a book which addresses many current issues facing tribes, and provides a Native critique of American life. A resident of Oklahoma, Barreiro is senior editorial advisor to “Indian Country Today,” and is one of the nation’s leading scholars in American Indian policy, journalism, and publishing.
