“A Festival Kick-off”
with Laurence Salzmann and Larry Robin
Wednesday, October 3, 8am

Join Salzmann, the festival’s artistic director, and Robin, executive director of Moonstone, Inc., the presenter of the festival, and participating Cuban artists for a kickoff celebration of this unprecedented event.

 

“Cutumba-Ballet Folklorico de Santiago de Cuba”
with Idalberto Bandera and Kristina Wirtz
Tuesday, October 9, 8am

Meet director Bandera, who will talk about the troupe’s work and its upcoming presentation at the Art Sanctuary. Folklorist Wirtz, of the U of Penn, will provide a contextual background of the work.

 

“Honoring Jose Marti”
with Lillian Guerra
Thursday, October 18, 8am

Learn about the life & work of this legendary Cuban poet and revolutionary from expert Guerra, U.S.-born Cuban professor at Bates College. John Dowlin, of Citizen Diplomats, will give details of the Oct. 20 José Martí Bike Ride in Philadelphia.
