Join the Code Pink Women for Peace delegation to Palestine and Israel in honor of the slain U.S. peace activist, Rachel Corrie. The 23 yr. old college student was killed on March 16 by an Israeli military bulldozer while she was trying to prevent nonviolently the demolition of a Palestinian house where she was staying as a volunteer in the occupied Gaza Strip.
The delegation will explore the roots of the conflict by meeting with Israeli and Palestinian human rights and peace organizations, and groups such as the Israeli Families Forum for Bereaved Parents, Israeli Committee Against Home Demolition, Rabiis for Human Rights, Womens Center for Legal Aid and Counseling, Medical Relief in Ramallah, Adalla (Arab citizens of Israel), an Israeli settlement organization and more. Stops will include Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, Bethlehem, Hares, Haifa, and Gaza.
We will be working closely with Israeli peace organizations that oppose their governments policies of Palestinian home demolitions, and the building of the Apartheid Wall and will join in an international womens peace demonstration
Our trip will be organized by Global Exchange, an international human rights organization based in San Francisco. Medea Benjamin co-founder of both Global Exchange and Code Pink, will lead the trip along with White Dog owner and Code Pink activist, Judy Wicks. As part of the White Dogs international sister restaurant project, Table for Six Billion, Please!, we will find Israeli and Palestinian sister restaurants as partners for future trips and activities.
The cost of the trip will be approximately $1100, plus airfare. Travel plans are made individually with the formal tour beginning August 31.
